Inside Out: A Global Art Project

This is something worth talking about. It's something we should kick start in D.C. and in cities all across the world. It's Inside Out: A Global Art Project, a call-to-action created by TED prize-winning artist JR.

I'll spare you my description and adoration by simply recommending that you read this GOOD article about the project and watch the video below. Together, they capture the project's purpose far more eloquently than I can.

Skateboards? Yes.

David Guarino is a frenchman who has been collecting Indian and Nepalese fabrics for decades. He moved to Japan and began creating baseball caps with old kimono fabrics. Then, he thought of more things he'd like to make out of the fabric. Thus was born his line, Zillion, and a striking collection of hoodies, shoelaces and belts. Now he's partnered with the original hip-guy-blog, Cool Hunting, on a line of skateboards, and the result is pretty arresting.

Room to relax

Interior design inspiration c/o Julie at coco+ kelley. Creating a modern look that's comfortable can be tricky. Here, furniture and art steal the show against simple whitewashed walls.

This living room feels perfectly disjointed. Cozy, upholstered chairs and sofa paired with sharp cocktail table. Reds in the cowhide rug, bookshelf and art loosely tie the room together. The striped wood flooring is art itself!

Crooked topiaries in the entry hall add sophistication without stuffiness.
