An Education: Liz Taylor & the men that loved her

"They only call it fiction when they change the names." I remember my stepdad telling me this as a little girl and not quite understanding what he meant, and it's still a thought I enjoy turning over. Maybe it's a reminder that all stories, books, lyrics and films - however dark, outrageous or other-worldly - are born from the experiences of real people. It's foolish to dismiss anything as too far-fetched, cliched or "out there." Fact and fiction simply aren't black and white, and the world is a pretty crazy place full of incredible stories.

There are, of course, some people whose lives offer narratives meant for the tabloids and big screen. It doesn't take much digging to unearth a captivating story-line full of fantastic characters. If you haven't already, I highly reading a bit about Liz Taylor and the men that loved her. Suffice to stay, her life and love affairs are fascinating and absurd, in both tragic and wonderful ways.

Read about each husband, in order. You can't make this stuff up ...
