Matchmaker

You know how couples sometimes love to set up their friends? ... "He's just such a great guy! I mean, if I were single, I'd totally date him." ... Well, today I'm playing matchmaker! I, renter of a fully decorated apartment, want to set a lucky guy up with this file cabinet from Miss Pixies. I'm not in the market for a dresser. But, if I were, I'd be ALL OVER this one.

I'm in love with it, particularly as a dresser in a guy's place. It's got giant drawers, is a perfect height and even has an awesome, hidden writing shelf. Very 007.

Mint condition. $110 or $140 with delivery. Dressers like this don't come around every day.

Peachy keen

It's chilly here in D.C. but there's been an important development for those of us anxiously awaiting warmer weather - Spring sun light. It shows up earlier and stays later. It's kind of peachy and warms the skin. Most importantly, it's arrived. I promise.

So at the risk of getting a bit ahead of ourselves, here are some reminders of Spring. It will be here before we know it ...

It's much easier to get out of bed when it's light and warm.

Happy hours outside.

Enjoy beautiful sunsets after work.

Open toe shoes sans tights. Can't wait.
Manicures and pedicures worth showing off. Fancy.

Find the perfect pair of white jeans and wear them non-stop.

Funky room inspiration

Good art won't match your sofa.

And things don't have to always "go together" precisely.

It's so nice to come across funky, mismatched spaces that I love. It's encouragement to color outside the lines and not get bogged down in decorating-paralysis, that condition which leaves one agonizing over every choice and every purchase and surrounded by bare space in the meantime.

Decor inspiration

More frilly than is normally my style, but I do love the silver mural wallpaper.

Killer scent

Favorite Candle - Aquiesse's Mandarin Tea. Available here for $36.

Paris vs. NYC

I love these prints by Paris versus New York - a tally of two cities. They do a beautiful job capturing the simple things that define both places. I hope they can start producing more as posters!

Pretty print

A Vincent Van Gogh quote printed in thousands of tiny gold stars on blue paper. It's pretty romantic. (Made by Seb Lester)

Room to relax

Interior design inspiration c/o Julie at coco+ kelley. Creating a modern look that's comfortable can be tricky. Here, furniture and art steal the show against simple whitewashed walls.

This living room feels perfectly disjointed. Cozy, upholstered chairs and sofa paired with sharp cocktail table. Reds in the cowhide rug, bookshelf and art loosely tie the room together. The striped wood flooring is art itself!

Crooked topiaries in the entry hall add sophistication without stuffiness.
